What are you measuring?
We will measure the diversity of the unicellular eukaryotes in seawater, called protists. This diversity will be assessed both by using genetics and morphological aspects.
What techniques/instruments are you using?
The diversity will be assessed in laboratory by sequencing of DNA (genetics) and using microscopy (for morphological diversity).
How frequently will you be taking measurements?
Every 2 days during the experiment for genetics and every week for morphology.
Why is it important?
The marine protist world has a wide biogeochemical impact on our environnement. Investigating the acidic effects on these organisms will help us to assess what will be the eukaryotic planktonic communities in the Oceans in future.
